The Senior AI Engineer is responsible for spear-heading development and operation of automated and scalable AI solutions that generate market insights and high-quality leads, enhancing customer engagement and directly driving sales.
This position reports to the AI Integration Manager and is part of the Data Science and AI Team located in Cambridge, UK, and will be remote. At Abcam, our vision is to be the most influential life sciences company for researchers worldwide.
This role will initially be a 12-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Spearhead development, embedding, automation and operation of scalable AI Applications.
Drive best practices in code quality, documentation and software development lifecycle.
Ensure technical quality and reliability of AI solutions through rigorous testing, validation, and implementing frameworks for scalable data ingestion.
Optimize AI Application performance and efficiency through feature engineering.
Collaborate across teams to drive AI innovation, while expanding your expertise within an experienced, inclusive, and international team.
The essential requirements of the job include:
BSc or MSc in a field related to Software Development (or equivalent, proven experience).
Multiple years of industry experience.
Proficient in Python, software development and application of AI models.
Highly-skilled in realizing the full potential of LLM-based AI frameworks (e.g. OpenAI).
Experience with GitLab, PyCharm, SQL, MLflow, Airflow, AWS, data structures, data platforms and data integration.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Commercial awareness and understanding of Sales and Marketing strategies.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with CDPs, MDM and data and software security concepts.
