The Senior Strategy & Open Innovation Manager is a member of the Abcam strategy team responsible for supporting the development of business plans that support the organic and inorganic growth of Abcam and development of strategic insight on competitors, customers and markets in which the company operates to build strategic differentiation.
This position reports to the VP of Strategy and Strategic Partnerships and is part of the Strategy team located in Cambridge, UK and will be on-site.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Develop a deep understanding of the competitors, customers, and the market in which Abcam operates, based on primary and secondary research
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to identify, assess and develop business cases for products and services that meet the ongoing needs of Abcam’s core customers and provide strategic differentiation for Abcam
- Coordinate with senior leaders on the execution of Abcam strategy against strategic plan and support reporting of strategic progress including ddeveloping and monitoring KPIs to track the progress towards strategic initiatives
- Work with business to assess and scope potential partnerships
- Influence across the business to enhance Abcam’s commercial proposition
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business administration, or related field;
- Proven track record of strong business impact, with more than 5 years’ experience either consulting with a top tier consulting firm or in relevant areas such as Strategy, Marketing and Commercial in the life sciences industry
- Demonstrable experience in development and execution of strategic business improvements across multiple areas e.g. marketing, sales, product
- Demonstrable experience of excellent stakeholder management skills, including ability to influence across all levels of the organization
- Experience in leading significant strategic projects with proven business impact
It would be a plus if you also possess:
- MSc or Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or related fields
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
- Up to 20% travel required (domestic and international)
