The Senior Quality Engineer, Supplier Management is responsible for for ensuring the quality of suppliers and parts, developing improvement plans in collaboration with suppliers to enhance quality performance, and addressing quality deficiencies. The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer will play a crucial role in early detection and resolution of quality issues during the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase. This role requires a solid understanding of mechanical part commodities, manufacturing processes, root cause analysis (RCA), and effective supplier management.
This position reports to the Senior Manager Supplier Quality and is part of the Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance Department located in Singapore and will be an on-site role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Lead efforts in managing and improving supplier quality processes, ensuring alignment with company standards, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance. Conduct supplier audits and assessments to evaluate quality systems, processes, and capabilities, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Issue SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action Request), following up with supplier on CAPA and perform effectiveness review. Work closely with suppliers to resolve quality issues, drive corrective actions, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supplier performance and product quality.
- Monitor supplier performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality metrics, track improvement progress, and escalate performance issues as needed. Conduct root cause analysis on quality issues, identify systemic problems, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address root causes.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and product development, to ensure quality requirements are met and product specifications are consistently achieved. Foster strong relationships with key suppliers, offering technical guidance and support to drive long-term improvements and maintain high levels of supplier performance.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to junior quality engineers and other team members, sharing knowledge and best practices to support the overall team development. Keep abreast of DBS tools, such as 5S, DMP, SW, and TPI to drive continuous improvement with sustainable results. Adhere to company EHS requirements, regulations and risk assessments and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering discipline with at least 5 years of working experience, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or relevant Engineering discipline with at least 7 years of working experience.
- Working experience in Mechanical manufacturing industry is essential. Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Mechanical manufacturing processes, quality control and testing methods.
- Good understanding of metrology, measurement techniques, Inspection Methods, Equipment and engineering drawings.
- Possess analytical and problem-solving skills.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Understanding of QMS 9001, ISO13485, USFDA QSR/cGMP (21 CFR Part 820) and ISO14971 is considered an added advantage.
